Hacker NOT!

  Buffer

It really bothers me when the media uses the word “HACKER” when a criminal act is performed and a computer is involved. CNN is running a story labeled Hacker hits California-Berkeley computer. It should read more like Some one walked over to a computer and had access to sesitive data on a California-Berkeley computer. None of the agencies investigating the incident can confirm that any data was taken, copied or even transmited.

I don’t encourage hacking on public or private systems but the person who did this should be labeled a criminal and nothing more. I wonder how Mecahics would feel if the media began to address car thiefs as mechanics. Another Mechanic arrested in the ring of car thefts

It just bothers me I guess.
